What are adaptive triggers

Adaptive triggers are a PS5 DualSense exclusive feature built into L2 and R2. Small motors inside the trigger mechanism create variable resistance as you pull, simulating the tension of drawing a bowstring, the pressure of a brake pedal, or the click of a firearm trigger, depending on what the game programs.

Position versus resistance: trigger position is a simple 0 to 100 percent value showing how far the trigger is pulled. Resistance is the physical force pushing back against your finger, a completely separate mechanism.

Why the browser sees less: browsers read controllers through the standard Gamepad API, which only exposes the trigger position value. The proprietary commands that control motor resistance profiles are not part of that standard.

What this test confirms: your trigger travels smoothly across its full range and returns cleanly to zero, which is the most common real world symptom of a worn or damaged trigger.

A note on testing real adaptive resistance

A browser page cannot read or trigger the motorized resistance effects themselves, and cannot verify partial locks, vibration pulses, or multiple resistance zones within a single pull. This is a limitation of the standard Gamepad API used by every website, not a limitation of this specific tool.
